ORDINANCE CLOSING, VACATING, AND ABANDONING THE SOUTH
200 FEET OF A NORTH -SOUTH ALLEY IN BLOCK 8, SIBLEY TAYLOR
ADDITION, WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, AND RETAINING A UTILITY AND
DRAINAGE EASEMENT; DETERMINING THAT THE MEETING AT
WHICH THIS ORDINANCE WAS PASSED WAS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC
AS REQUIRED BY LAW.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Wichita Falls deems it advisable and
in the public interest to close the portion of alley hereafter described.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. The portion of an north -south alley located adjacent to Lots 17 to 20 and
Lots 21 through 24, in Block 8, of the Sibley Taylor Addition to the City of Wichita Falls
Texas, and shown as the shaded area on the attached map, incorporated in this
ordinance as Attachment "A," being more specifically described by metes and bounds
as follows:
BEGINNING in the Southwest corner of Lot 21, Block 8, Sibley Taylor Addition, an
addition to the City of Wichita Falls, Texas, according to plat recorded in Volume 2,
Page 132, Wichita County Plat Records, said point also being the Southeast corner of a
12 foot wide alley;
THENCE North along said alley right -of -way line a distance of 200 feet to a point for
corner, said point also being the Northwest corner of Lot 24, Block 8, Sibley Taylor
Addition;
THENCE West a distance of 12 feet to the Northeast corner of Lot 17, Block 8, Sibley
Taylor Addition, said point also being in the West right -of -way line of said alley;
THENCE South along said alley right -of -way a distance of 200 feet to a point for corner,
said point also being the Southeast corner of Lot 20, Block 8, Sibley Taylor Addition;
THENCE East a distance of 12 feet to the Southwest corner of Lot 21, Block 8, Sibley
Taylor Addition, and the PLACE OF BEGINNING containing 0.55 acres of land;
be and the same is hereby closed, vacated and abandoned.
SECTION 2. The City of Wichita Falls, Texas hereby reserves an easement in
that entire portion of the alley described in Section 1 for the purpose of laying and
maintaining all kind and character of utility lines including water, gas, electric,
telephone, cable television, sanitary and storm sewers and drainage ditches; no
structures shall be built on said easement.
SECTION 3. That in acknowledgment of the receipt of Five Hundred and Four
($504.00) Dollars, paid by the owner of Lots 17 to 24, Block 8, Sibley Taylor Addition,
this ordinance shall authorize the Mayor to execute a quit claim deed for the City's
interest in the property.
SECTION 4. It is hereby officially found and determined that the meeting at
which this ordinance was passed was open to the public as required by law.
