AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ACCEPT A
THREE -YEAR UNIVERSAL HIRING GRANT FOR THE POLICE
DEPARTMENT; MAKING AN APPROPRIATION IN THE SPECIAL
REVENUE FUND IN THE AMOUNT OF $300,000, AND MAKING AN
APPROPRIATION IN THE GENERAL FUND FOR THE CITY'S
MATCHING REQUIREMENT IN THE AMOUNT OF $168,408; FINDING
AND DETERMINING THAT THE MEETING AT WHICH THIS
ORDINANCE WAS PASSED WAS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC AS
REQUIRED BY LAW.
WHEREAS, the Wichita Falls Police Department has applied for and been
awarded a Universal Hiring Grant from the Federal Government; and,
WHEREAS, the total amount of the grant over a three year period will be
$468,408.00 with the Federal government supplying $300,000.00 and the City matching
with $168,408.00; and,
WHEREAS, these funds will fund four (4) new officers over the three year life of
the grant with the City fully funding these officers in the fourth year; and,
WHEREAS, it is necessary to appropriate this grant money and the City's
matching requirement to the budget of the City.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. The City Manager is authorized to accept the Universal Hiring
Grant in the total amount of $468,408.00.
SECTION 2. The federal portion of this grant program, $300,000, is hereby
appropriated to the Special Revenue Fund.
SECTION 3. The City's portion of this grant program, $168,408, is hereby
appropriated from General Fund Reserves to the General Fund.

which this ordinance was passed was open to the public as required by law
