ORDINANCE EXPANDING THE BOUNDARIES OF THE DEPOT
SQUARE HISTORIC DISTRICT; DETERMINING THAT THE MEETING
AT WHICH THIS ORDINANCE WAS PASSED WAS OPEN TO THE
PUBLIC AS REQUIRED BY LAW.
WHEREAS, the Landmark Commission of the City of Wichita Falls, Texas has
deemed that properties adjacent to the existing Depot Square Historic District are
especially worthy of protection, preservation, and recognition; and
WHEREAS, the Landmark Commission has recommended expanding the
boundaries of the Depot Square Historic District, Wichita Falls, Texas.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. Section 2- 160.7.7, Code of Ordinances, Wichita Falls, Texas, is
hereby amended to include the following:
"The Depot Square Historic District shall also include the following area:
BEGINNING at the intersection of the north right -of -way line of 7th Street and the west
right -of -way line the M.K. & T. Railroad right -of way in Block 153, Original Townsite,
Wichita Falls, Texas;
THENCE northerly along said west right -of -way line to a point of intersection with the
south line of 5th Street closed by City Ordinance 140;
THENCE westerly along the south line of 5th Street to a point in the northwest corner of
Lot 14, Block 139, Original Townsite, said point also being the intersection of the east
line of Indiana Avenue and the south line of 5th Street.
THENCE southerly along the east right -of -way line of Indiana Avenue to the southwest
corner of Lot 11, Block 139, Original Townsite;
THENCE easterly along the south line of Lot 11, Block 139 Original Townsite, to its
southeast corner;
THENCE continuing east in a straight line to a point in the east line of a 20 -foot wide
north -south alley in said Block 139.
THENCE continuing south along said east alley right -of -way line, passing 6th Street and
continuing in Block 152, Original Townsite, to a point of intersection with north line of
the existing Depot Square Historic District;
THENCE continuing easterly, southerly and easterly along the existing Historic District
boundary to the PLACE OF BEGINNING."
Such area also being described in a map labeled Exhibit A and becoming part of this
ordinance.
SECTION 2. It is hereby officially found and determined that the meeting at
which this ordinance was passed was open to the public as required by law.
