ORDINANCE TO AMEND SECTION 15 -127 OF THE CODE OF
ORDINANCES WHICH CLASSIFIES THE NUMBER OF DESIGNATED
CIVIL SERVICE POSITIONS IN THE WICHITA FALLS FIRE
DEPARTMENT; FINDING AND DETERMINING THAT THE MEETING AT
WHICH THIS ORDINANCE WAS PASSED WAS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC
AS REQUIRED BY LAW.
WHEREAS, Section 143.021 of the Texas Local Government Code requires a
municipality's governing body to establish Fire Department classifications by ordinance,
and the governing body by ordinance shall prescribe the number of positions in each
classification, and
WHEREAS, the plan for the realignment and consolidation of fire stations will
allow for one additional training officer, and
WHEREAS, there is an immediate need to address the problems with the Fire
Department Training Officer in order to obtain the required certifications, and
WHEREAS, an existing firefighter vacancy will be used to create the additional
Captain in the Training Division in order to stay within budget, and
WHEREAS, another ordinance will be brought before the City Council, after the
station realignment has been completed, to set the final classifications and positions.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. That Section 15 -127 of the Code of Ordinance be amended as
follows:
