Res 097-2026 two grant applications to Nortex Regional Planning Commission for the 2027 09/01/2026 Resolution No. 97-2026 Resolution authorizing the submittal of two grant applications to Nortex Regional Planning Commission for the 2027 Regional Solid Waste Grants Program, and acceptance if awarded WHEREAS, the City desires to apply for funding through the 2027 Regional Solid Waste Grants Program to support efforts to prevent and address illegal dumping within the City; and, WHEREAS, the City further proposes to utilize grant funds to use contractors to remove illegally dumped items in public areas; and, WHEREAS, the City proposes to utilize grant funds for observation measures designed to deter, identify, and assist in the enforcement of illegal dumping activities at locations throughout the city; and, WHEREAS, the City Council finds that participation in the 2027 Regional Solid Waste Grants Program will provide a public benefit by supporting the prevention of illegal dumping and improving the cleanliness, appearance, and quality of life in the city; and, WHEREAS, the City is pledging if a grant (or grants) are received will comply with the grant requirements of Nortex Regional Planning Commission, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, and the State of Texas. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED/RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, THAT: 1 . That the City Manager, or designee, is authorized to execute all documents, in a form approved by the City Attorney, to request and accept grant funding under the FY 2027 Nortex Regional Planning Commission Request for Applications of the Regional Solid Waste Grants Program and act on behalf of the City of Wichita Falls in all matters related to the grant applications and any subsequent grant contract and grant projects that may result. 2. That if the projects are funded, the City of Wichita Falls will comply with the grant requirements of the Nortex Regional Planning Commission, Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, and the State of Texas. 3. The grant funds and any grant-funded equipment will be used only for the purposes for which they are intended under the grant. PASSED AND APPROVED this the 1st day of September, 2026.
