Employee Benefit Trust Minutes - 11/26/2007 • CITY OF WICHITA FALLS EMPLOYEE BENEFITS TRUST BOARD MEETING November 26, 2007 Present: Bill Sullivan, Chair Darron Leiker, City Manager Jim Dockery, Finance Director David Winney, Human Resources Director Gail Garmon, Employee Benefits Coordinator The meeting was called to order at 10:00 a.m. Agenda Item: Conference call with Cassie Stennett A conference call was held between board members and Cassie Stennett, broker for the Trust. Cassie presented the renewal options and proposals for the Trust's stop loss insurance, to be renewed on December 1, 2007. She presented proposals from several stop loss companies, including Symetra, HCC Life, Sun Life, J A Hall, and HM Life as well as the current stop loss carrier, ING. The current contract premium with ING with a specific deductible of$200,000., is $9.63/Single, $28.53/Family and$2.65/Aggregate, at a cost of approximately$267,000. per year. The cost to renew the current ING contract keeping the $200,000 specific deductible would be approximately$293,000. The best proposal came from ING which called for a raise in the specific stop loss deductible to $225,000, with premium of$8.79/Single, $25.98/Family, and $2.65/Aggregate. The projected annual cost is approximately$247,000. Other comparable proposals ranged from $256,000 to $299,000 annually. The ING proposal was the lowest. Jim Dockery inquired as to whether any future premium changes to the plans,would affect the bids, to which Cassie Stennett answered no. After considerable discussion, Darron Leiker made a motion to accept the ING proposal of approximately$247,000 yearly, and a specific deductible of$225,000. Jim Dockery seconded the motion. Motion passed.
