EMPLOYEE BENEFITS TRUST MEETING
April 30, 2004
Present: Bill Sullivan, Chair
James Berzina, City Manager
Jim Dockery, Director of Finance
Jan Stricklin, Director of Administrative Services
Gail Garmon, Employee Benefits Coordinator
The meeting was called to order by Bill Sullivan at 9:0 AM
A motion was made and seconded to accept the minutes of the last meeting with no
corrections. Motion carried.
Agenda Items:
Financial Statement:
Jim Dockery presented his projected figures based on the current claims paid information
through March '04, that the fund will probably finish the year with a"best case estimate"
at $7,158,287., a deficit of $1,390,894 and a "worst case estimate" at $7.579,877., a
deficit of$1,860,100. He then presented figures on what the fund could expect to see in
increased revenue if all premiums were raised by 25%across the board.
A proposal was made and seconded to leave the plan deductibles and out of pocket limits
at the current levels and to raise all premiums by 25% with these changes to become
effective June 1, 2004; and to ask the Council to provide additional funding. Motion
carried.
Old Business
There was no old business.
New Business
A proposal to allow the Mayor and City Council members to participate in the Employee
Benefits Trust Health and Dental program was introduced. It was decided that the matter
would be held until the next Board meeting and discussed in more detail at that time.
