The financial report for October was presented by Stan Horton. Balance was $171.50 Accident Statistics: Karl Lillie of WFPD advised the total crashes for Sept 2012 were 235 of which 67 were injury accidents and 0 fatalities. There have been 4 fatalities for 2012. PAGE 1 City Traffic Report Mark Beauchamp discussed the following: 1. They are working with the MPA to do an in -depth study of all traffic accidents over the last three years. This study is to try and determine the most dangerous 25 intersections in the city. The study is designed to help the traffic division recognize problems and improve the intersection to reduce the number of accidents in an area of concern. 2. Safe Walk Campaign coincides with the Safe Routes to School program. 3. Safe Routes will go out for bids in March 2013 4. 287/281 high mast lighting replacement 5. Callfield/Lawrence realignment should be completed by the end of 2012. 6. Downtown transit hub will start in the near future. 7. Speed limit ordinances were passed and new signs will be in place soon. 8. Systems upgrade is still moving forward. State Traffic Report Glenn Allbritton gave the following report: 1. High mast illumination replacement at 281/287 intersection has a contractor and will begin around the 17th of August. 2. Windthorst Road bridge project has let and should start in September. 3. Sheppard Access road and Airport stop sign placement seems to be working well. Unfinished Business: None. New Business: International Walk to School Day - Mark Beauchamp advised that he and some members of the TSC, along with the Wichita Falls Health Department, started this year's program at John Tower Elementary School with a presentation to each class. Over 800 children and teachers were given handouts with safety tip information and encouraged to walk to school on the international walk to school day. A large number participated and walked to school on Oct 2, 2012. City View school is scheduled for October 16th and Southern Hills on the 12th. The hope is that all schools will participate next year for a citywide event. Items of Discussion: Election of officers for TSC — nomination was made by Mark Beauchamp to keep the current officers in place for another year. A vote was cast. All were in favor.
