Civil Service Commission Minutes - 12/02/2004i MINUTES OF THE CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION CITY OF WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS Present: Ben Filer, Chairman Bob Monaghan James Harris Linda Merrill, Recording Secretary 1. Call to Order DECEMBER 2, 2004 § Commission Members § City Staff Chairman Filer welcomed the members of the media and public at the meeting. He explained that his plan was to call the meeting to order. Then, as a Commission, the members would adjourn to executive session with attorney Bettye Lynn. Once the executive session is completed, the Commission will reconvene in the Council Conference Room. He anticipated the executive session would last a couple of hours. With that said, Chairman Filer called the meeting to order at 4:30 p.m. He welcomed Bob Monaghan, and then noted the Commission was then adjourned to executive session at 4:30 p.m. (Note: James Harris arrived at the start of the executive session.) 2. Executive Session 3. Reconvene in Open Session Chairman Filer called the meeting back to order at 6:42 p.m. 4. Take Action (if any) as a Result of Executive Session He noted the Commission had reviewed a summary of the 85 complaints that were submitted by 18 individuals. The Commission recognizes a need to gather additional information for clarification purposes. To that end, they have instructed attorney Bettye Lynn to send letters to those individuals from whom additional information is desired. The letters will be sent to the address provided by the complainant on the complaint /comment form. r Civil Service Commission Minutes of December 2, 2004 2 Chairman Filer added that those additional comments would need to be returned to the City Attorney's secretary, as was the process for the initial complaint /comment submission. The deadline for such submission is December 15, 2004. He continued, stating that a number of the forms submitted included comments /complaints that do not appear to be related to civil service law. The Commission has not yet determined what action will be taken in regard to those complaints /comments, but will make public its course of action when that decision has been made. 5.
