CALL TO ORDER:
Jim Heiman called the meeting to order at 1 :30 p.m.
1 APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
The minutes from May 25, 2023 were put before the Board for approval. Alan
Donaldson made the motion to approve the minutes and Dorcas Chasteen
second the motion.

• Memo going on information for people ordering bricks.

• Park Board meetings schedule for July and August are canceled and will
pick back up in September.
• A request was made to email updates during the 2 months meeting where
adjourned.

Recreation report 6/22/2023
50 Plus Zone daily attendance 229
50 Plus Zone celebrates 25 years the whole month of June with special events
New Fitness and Nutrition Class through the Texas A & M Extension Services runs each
Monday June -July.
Last night was the last concert for the spring and had over 200 people attend despite the heat.
Summer Camps Summer Fun(Scotland) is at 60%
Lots A Fun (Jefferson) is at 93%
Swim Classes are full for the rest of the summer.
Summer Class enrollment at 51 for June.
Last weekends tournament was our biggest of the year with 31 teams and 22 from out of
town. Economic impact for the weekend was 305,250 and total for the year so far is $1,373,625
This weekends tournament was a local Adult softball and it has been canceled due to heat most
of the teams have pulled out. There are three tournaments scheduled for July. Recreation staff
has done an incredible job maintaining the facilities, supplies and serving the players, coaches
and fans!
Tennis/Pickleball summer camps and programs underway include new youth Pickleball camps
and play. Annual City Tennis Championships scheduled in July.
Pool is up but new required Chlorinator system is having a hard time keeping up with the heat
and load.
Unable to get any local companies to repair leak in the pool system Ferguson Veresh is still
trying to find time so hopefully soon. That repair should help with the chlorinator?
Recreation only has one full time crew member in the field as of last Friday. We have received
5 applications and are trying to get them in as soon as we can.
