The October meeting of the Wichita Falls Traffic Safety Commission was called to
order by Chairman Robert Parker at 1:30 P.M..
The invocation was given by Ronnie Awtry.
The financial report and minutes for June were accepted and approved as written.
The accident statistic reports were circulated for review.

City Traffic Report
Mr. Parker reported that the state is now working on the street markings on
Callfield, Lawrence, and Rhea Road. The project is near completion and has improved the
traffic flow. The work on the overhead should begin in January '99 and is scheduled to be
completed in three years. Detours will be similar to those used during the recent bridge
repairs. The City is also looking at digital controllers for Broad and Holliday. The new
equipment will allow for instant emergency patterns to be implemented when accidents
occur. The traffic department will also be looking at signal patterns at the intersection of
5'/6`h/Brook/Holliday.

Nothing to report due to Mr. Hertel's absence.

New Business:
Item 98 -05: Nomination Committee
Mr. Parker assigned Dave Westen, Elaine Bourgoin, and himself to serve as
the nomination committee. Item to remain open.
Items of Discussion
Councilor Don Johnston advised the commission that several applications have been
received for commission membership. Currently there are vacancies for District 2 and
District 3. None of the applications were from those districts. Councilor Johnston will visit
with the councilors for those districts to try to fill the vacancies.

at 2:20 P.M..
