CALL TO ORDER The meeting was called to order by Chairperson Purtle at 3:40 p.m. Mr. Clark introduced Jenna Lewis, U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, and Karen Montgomery, Planner III. II. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Minutes of the meeting of August 26,1999, were unanimously approved after a motion for approval was made and seconded. Ill. HISTORIC DISTRICT EXPANSION The Commission decided to consider expanding the Historic District to Tenth Street. Both sides of Indiana, from Eighth Street to Tenth Street are included. As usual, the east boundary is the M.K. & T. Landmark Commission 9 -23 -99 Page 1 of 2 Railroad. The request was.made'that property owners in this area be mailed notices of Historic District expansion. IV. CERTIFIED LOCAL GOVERNMENT PROGRAM Mr. Long informed the Commission that the application requires that all members of the Commission submit resumes or statements of expertise as it relates to historic preservation. V. OTHER BUSINESS Mr. Newsom asked if there was a simple process for nominating the Morningside area. He cited the difficulty in getting the necessary paperwork completed for 60 homes. Mr. Clark suggested that three individuals be charged with completing nominations. A comment was made regarding the need for better maps of the Historic District, i.e. larger or more detailed maps. Mr. Clark stated that the Planning Division could produce better maps. VI.
