CALL TO ORDER The meeting was called to order by Chairperson Purtle at 3:30 p.m. II. APPROVAL OF MINUTES ° Members 0 0 a ° ° 0 ° ° Council Liaison ° City Staff 0 0 Minutes of the meeting of May 27,1999, were unanimously approved after a motion for approval was made and seconded. Ill. LANDMARK DESIGNATION REVIEW — HAMILTON BUILDING The Commission reviewed the designation application for the Hamilton Building. There was concern and discussion regarding the importance of complete and detailed applications. It was suggested that there Landmark Commission 8 -26 -99 Page 1 of 2 be more elaboration on the significance and physical appearance of the building. A motion was made to approve the application. It was seconded. The motion passed unanimously. IV. LANDMARK DESIGNATION REVIEW — LITTLEST SKYSCRAPER The Commission was concerned about citing stories about the building that were not fact. After a discussion of the validity of the stories, a motion was made to approve the application. The motion was seconded and passed unanimously. V. HISTORIC DISTRICT EXPANSION The Planning Division recommended that the Commission expand the boundaries of the Historic District. Ms. Bates, a representative of Backdoor Theatre, was present and questioned the theatre not being included in the Historic District. It was suggested that the Commission amend the proposal to include two properties owned by Backdoor Theatre, as well as, property bound by the M.K. & T. Railroad and Ohio Street on the east and west, by the south right -of -way line of Fifth Street on the north and Sixth Street on the south. VI. OTHER BUSINESS In the interest of expanding the Historic District to include all properties on the east side of Indiana Street between Fifth Street and the current Historic District's southern border, the Commission suggested that all property owners in that area be notified and invited to make comment at or before the next meeting.
