Jim Zillweger - Sheppard Air Force Base The June meeting of the Wichita Falls Traffic Safety Commission was called to order by Trooper Joe Clement at 1:30 P.M. Lt. Col. Bill Doyle gave the invocation. Trooper Clement welcomed Mr. John Burrus who was filling in for Mr. Bob Parker, Mr. Davis Powell with the Texas Dept. of Transportation, Tech. Sgt. Jim Zillweger - Sheppard Air Force Base, and Lt. Fred Smith who is returning to the commission as the representative of the traffic unit with the Wichita Falls Police Department. The financial report and minutes for May were accepted and approved as written. City Traffic Report Mr. John Burrus reported that in July the downtown streetlights will be replaced. Funding has been approved for replacement of 60 lights per year. State Traffic Report Mr. Clyde Williford advised the overhead project is going well and ahead of schedule. Unfinished Business Item 99 -05: Spring Safety Patrol Activity The swim party was successful. There were 284 participants this year. Commission members were thanked for their participation and hard work in preparing for the event. Letters of appreciation have been prepared for the Sheppard Air Force base volunteers. Item closed. Item 99 -06: Kell - McNiel Street Markings Item to remain open. Mr. Burrus will check on the status for the next meeting. Item 99 -07: Enterprise Parking Item to remain open. Mr. Burrus will check on the status for the next meeting. New Business Item 99 -08: Safety Patrol Evaluations Trooper Clement advised that he will be working with the Police Department on the evaluations for the next school year. Item closed. Item 99 -09: Loud Music Trooper Clement advised that Justice of the Peace Mike Little has agreed that he would consider possible sanctions and dismissals on cases filed in his court. Elaine Bourgoin questioned procedures based on Penal Code offenses or City Ordinance violations and penalties allowed. Lt. Fred Smith and Trooper Clement will check for further discussion at the next meeting. Item to remain open. Items of Discussion Lt. Col. Bill Doyle invited the commission to join the Freedom Fest scheduled at Sheppard Air Force Base on July 4`h. A variety of activities are slated for the community. Page 2 Lt. Fred Smith reported that the police department scheduled officers to work the evening of high school graduation activities. Approximately 60 tickets were issued for alcohol offenses. Lt. Smith also reported that P.D. is working with other agencies in the preparation for the Cowboy Camp, Falls Fest, and Hotter -n -Hell. Trooper Clement reminded the members that there will not be a July commission meeting. There being no further business before the Commission, the meeting was adjourned at 2:18 P.M.
