The meeting of the Wichita Falls Arts Commission was called to order at 12:05 P.M. by Heather Tedford, Chairman. The minutes of the last meeting, June 8, 1993 were ready by Polly Jones, Secretary. A motion was made by Dannie Russell and seconded by Luther Breckenridge to approve these minutes. The motion carried by unanimous vote. The Chairman then called for presentations from applicants for funding who had submitted applications for funding prior to the May 1, 1993 deadline for funds set aside in the 1993- 94 FY Budget. Presentations were made by representatives of Midwestern State University, Wichita County Heritage Society, Wichita Falls Railroad Museum, Wichita Falls Backdoor Players, Wichita Falls Symphony Orchestra, Wichita Falls Ballet Theatre, Wichita Falls Community Messiah, Wichita Falls Art Association, and Wichita Falls Art, Entertainment, and Culture, Inc. Discussions and questions followed each presentation. A motion by Don Henschel was made to consider funding for all applications. The motion was seconded by Pat Grozier and carried by unanimous vote. Balloting followed with 14 members present to vote. Ballots were averaged and the results produced the following recommendation for the -- Wichita Falls City Councilors for funding from the 1993-94 FY Budget: Organization Amount Recommended W.F. Ballet Theatre, Inc. $10,087 W.F. Symphony Orchestra, Inc. 10,141 Wichita County Heritage Society, Inc. 9,767 M.S.U. Dept. of Art 4,179 W.F. Art, Entertainment, & Culture 9,346 W.F. Art Association 997 W.F. Backdoor Players, Inc. 9,769 M.S.U. Choral Dept. 3 ,341 W.F. Community Messiah, Inc. 3 ,297 M.S.U. Dept.
