The meeting of the Wichita Falls Arts Commission was called to order at the Backdoor Theatre in Wichita Falls at 11 :45 a.m. by Heather Tedford, Chairman. Linda Wilson moved that the reading of the minutes of the last meeting, September 5, 1996 be dispensed with and Nedra Palmer Seconded the motion. The motion carried by unanimous vote. Heather Tedford thanked the staff of Backdoor Theatre for hosting this meeting as part of the Commission' s goal of meeting at as many grant recipients sites as possible. She also stated the Council Liaison, J.W. Martin, could not be present for this meeting, but that he sent word that he was favorably impressed with the Commission' s applications for funding for FY 1996-97 . Presentations were made by representatives of non-profit organizations requesting funding from the 1996-97 FY budget . These organizations were Backdoor Theatre, Inc . , Wichita County Heritage Society, Inc . , Wichita Falls Ballet Theatre, Inc. , Wichita Falls Community Messiah, Inc. , M.S .U. Art Dept . , M.S .U. Choral Dept . , Wichita Falls Symphony Orchestra, Inc. , Wichita Fall Streams & Valleys, Inc. , Railroad Museum, and The Greater Wichita Falls Alliance for the Performing Arts . Following the presentations, Jeanne Rigg moved that all of the applicants be considered for funding and Betty Smith seconded the motion. The motion carried by unanimous vote. Balloting followed with each Commission member filling out an individual ballot . These 13 ballots were then averaged by applicant to produce the following recommendation to the City Council for funding from the FY 1996-97 Budget : Organization Amount Recommended W.F.
