Arts Commission Minutes - 05/24/1988 WICHITA FALLS ARTS CC1MISSION MINUTES Meeting, Tuesday, May 24, 1988 Roam 215, Wichita Falls Activities Center In Attendance: Betty Wagner - Civic Chorus of Greater Wichita Falls Area Ann Funston - At-Large Member Heather Tedford - W. F. Backdoor Players Luther Breckenridge - Midtown Fine Arts, Inc. Bettye Hansen- Wichita Falls Art Association Jane Underwood - Wichita County Heritage Society John Vitek - W. F. Symphony Orchestra Carolyn Sanders - At-Large Member Lynn Marshall - At-Large Member Ronald Hough - Midwestern State University Richard Kulka - At-Large Member Martha Steimel - At-Large Member Shirley Mathews - At-Large Member Don Burkman - Arts Commission Administrator The meeting was called to order at 12:20 P.M. at the Wichita Falls Activities Center. A discussion took place concerning organization's funding needs for next year. A motion was made and passed to ask the City Council for up to $70,000 depending upon input that will soon be requested from all Arts organizations that have potential needs during 1988-89 Fiscal Year Budget. Last year the Commission requested $65,000 and was given $55,000 (less $10,000 for the Kell House Museum) to recommend for funding. A letter will be sent to each organization represented on this Commission as well as other groups that applied in 1987 requesting details of needs. A nominating committee composed of Jane Underwood and Cathryn Whaling recommended the following as officers for the 1988-89 Fiscal Year: Carolyn Sanders, Chairman Bettye Hansen, Vice Chairman Lynn Marshall, Secretary A motion was made and seconded to accept this slate by acclamation and passed unanimously.
