The Kell House (Heritage Society) withdrew its application from the funding
request since the City Council had funded this organization directly.
f
The following organizations presented their requests for funding for the
87-88 year:
GROUP AMOUNT REQUESTED

After all proposals were made, Jeannie Thompson, of the City Attorney's
Office requested that the Arts Commission set aside a certain amount
each year if possible for special project funding and/or public exhibition
of art. This idea was further discussed by the Commission members and it
is hoped that further discussions will result.
The Commission then voted to exclude the following organizations request:
Wichita County Mounted Patrol.
The Commission then voted to fund the following organizations requests.
1. M.S.U. Oratorio Chorus
2. W. F. Ballet Theatre
3. W. F. Symphony Orchestra
4. W. F. Backdoor Players
5. Midtown Fine Arts League
6. Red River Lyric Theatre
Henry Dvorken moved that the W. F. Fire & Police Museum apply directly to the
City Council as the Kell House has previously done for museum funding. He
was very much in favor of the Fire & Police Museum but felt that their request
should go directly to the Council. Notion seconded. After Discussion the
Commission voted to accept the W. F. Fire & Police Museum for funding.
It was felt by the Commission that the Wichita County Mounted Patrol's request
be more appropriately directed to the BCI or City Council for funding rather
than the Arts Commission.
