Betty Hansen Wichita Falls Art Association Jan McDaniel Red River Lyric Theatre Bob Hansen Red River Lyric Theatre Lynn Marshal At-Large Appointee The meeting was called to order by the Chairman, Henry Dvorken. The minutes of the previous meeting were not read and Mr. Dvorken called upon the various representatives of organizations applying for funds to present their projects to the Arts Commission. Reports were heard from Wichita County Heritage Society, Wichita Falls Backdoor Players, Inc. , Civic Chorus of Greater Wichita Falls Area, Inc. , Wichita Falls Ballet Theatre, Wichita Falls Symphony Orchestra, Inc. , Wichita Falls Area Fire & Police Musuem, Inc. , Red River Lyric Theatre, and Midtown Fine Arts League, Inc. A presen- tation was also made by a representative for the Midwestern State University- Burns Fantasy of Lights. This application was broughtto the Commission after the September 1st deadline, but the commission agreed to hear a presentation concerning the application. Following the presentations , a discussion was held concerning the Midwestern State University-Burns Fantasy of Lights Application. It was moved by David Page 2 Arts Commission Minutes Murray that the Commission strictly observe its September 1 , 1985 deadline for applications and not recommend funding for this project. The motion was seconded by Bob Arnold and carried unanimously. It was moved by Carolyn Sanders that the Commission recommend to the Wichita Falls City Council that all application projects be fully funded and that the balance of funds be used by the City of Wichita Falls for lighting and maintenance for the Crape Myrtle Abstraction sculpture by George Sugarman in Bellevue Park. This recommendation was seconded by Bob Arnold and carried by an unanimous vote. The recommendation totaled $45,000 and was composed of the following projects.
