Arts Commission Minutes - 04/07/1982 MINUTES OF WICHITA FALLS ARTS COMMISSION APRIL 7, 1982 The Wichita Falls Arts Commission met in regular session at noon on April 6, 1982, at the Activities Center. The following people were in attendance: Dr. Jennie L. Hindman At-Large Martha Steimel Times Publishing Co. Jerry Estes Wichita Falls Symphony David Murray At-Large Mary Wolverton Wichita Falls Museum & Art Center Betty Wagner Civic Chorus of Greater WF Area Troy Jensen At-Large Gwen Jackson At-Large Bob Arnold Backdoor Theatre Gloria Lyday Midtown Fine Arts League Jan Morrison At-Large Dr. Don Maxwell MSU Music Dept. Donald Burkman City of Wichita Falls Chairman David Murray called the meeting to order at 12:25 p.m. He first asked Jerry Estes to give a report concerning the Centennial sculpture project for Bellevue Park. Mr. Estes stated that Mr. Sugerman, sculpturer, is expected to come to Wichita Falls when he completes a model of the sculpture. Chairman Murray reported that a balance of $1 ,012.78 remains for Commission to consider as a recommendation for expenditures to the City Council . These funds were not used and returned to the Arts Commission by the Broadway Theatre League. The funds are currently being held in account 25-000-3980. A discussion followed and Troy Jensen moved that the money be held over as a reserve for the coming fiscal year. The motion was seconded by Gwen Jackson and was passed by a unanimous vote. Bob Arnold, chairman of the nominating committee reported that his committee had met and the following slate of officers was nominated: David Murray Chairman Troy Jensen Vice-Chairman Betty Wagner Secretary David Murray called for a vote and the slate of officers was nominated unanimously. Chairman Murray asked that publicity be made possible stating that applicants for consideration of funding get their applications into the Activities Center office no later than September 1 , 1982.
