WICHITA FALLS ARTS COMMISSION MEETING
August 19, 1980
The Wichita Falls Arts Commission held its monthly
meeting at noon on August 19 , 1980, at the Activities Center. .
The following people were in attendance:
Don Burkman Auditorium Manager
Troy Jensen KAUZ-TV6
Jerry Estes Symphony
Bob Arnold Backdoor Theatre
Madge Muehlberger At-large
Mary H. Wolverton Museum & Art Center
Pat Jones Heritage Society
Dr. Jennie L. Hindman At-large
John Hampton, Jr. City Council
Jan Morrison At-large.
Chairman Jerry Estes called the meeting to order and
the June 17 , 1980 minutes were approved as corrected with the
deletion of the name Tom Crossnoe from people in attendance.
Mr. Estes announced that the next meeting will be
held September 16, 1980.
Mr. Estes read correspondence from TAAC requesting
slides of grant-supported Art projects from Arts Commissions
and Councils over the state be submitted to compile an audio-
visual presentation. Mr. Estes encouraged participation.
Mr. Estes, Chairman of the Centennial Project Committee,
reminded the Commission that the letter of intent has been mailed
to the National Endowment for the Arts and a response is due by
A grant application was presented to the Commission
by Ann Hunter, from the Wichita Falls Art Association, requesting
$3,500 for "Works in Clay" . A grant application from the Backdoor
Theatre was presented by Ms. Audrey Bushfield requesting $7,490
for lighting and sound equipment for the theatre 's proposed dinner
theatre. The Commission also received a grant application from
Distinguished Artists Concerts, Inc . , requesting $2 ,900 for the
1980-81 concert series.
The meeting was adjourned at 1:15 p.m.
