Arts Commission Minutes - 03/18/1980 MINUTES OF THE WICHITA ARTS COMMISSION March 18, 1980 The Wichita Falls Arts Commission held its monthly meeting on March 18, 1980 at 12 Noon at the Activities Center. The following people were in attendance: NAME AND REPRESENTATION: Helen Henry-Civic Chorus Dorcas Chapman-At-large Mary Honoure Wolverton--WF Museum & Art Center Madge Muehlberger-At-large Jerry Estes-WF Symphony Orchestra Johnny Hampton-City Council Gwendolyn Jackson-At-large Jan Morrison-At-large Dr. Jennie Louise Hindman-At-large Don Burkman-Activities Center Saundra Heffington-At-large Polly Cox-WF Art Association Carolyn Sanders-WE Ballet Theatre Martha Steimel-WF Times & Record News Chairman Saundra Heffington called the meeting to order and made several announcements. Carolyn Sanders reported for Pat Jones, chairman of the nominating committee. Carolyn Sanders made the motion that the following people be nominated: Jerry Estes-Chairman Carolyn Sanders-Vice Chairman Jan Morrison-Secretary Dr. Jennie Louise Hindman seconded the motion and it carried. Jerry Estes made the motion that Mrs. C.E. Jackson investigate the tax exempt status of Midtown Fine Arts League with the thought that if qualified...an invitation could be extended for representation on the Arts Commission. Polly Cox seconded and it passed. Mrs. Jackson visited with a member of Midtown Fine Arts League, attending a function in the Activities Center. She reported back that the Midtown Fine Arts League was in the process of incorporating. The Arts Commission reviewed all the evaluation forms on the applications granted for the past two years. Jerry Estes, incoming chairman, appointed Saundra Heffington to fill the vacancy on the screening committee. The screening committee is composed of : Dr. Jennie Louise Hindman, chairman, Helen Henry, and Saundra Heffington. Polly Cox made the motion that the Arts Commission not meet in April, and Helen Henry seconded it. The motion carried. Chairman Heffington expressed appreciation to the commission for their support the past two years. Mrs. C. E.
