Arts Commission Minutes - 01/15/1980 MINUTES OF THE WICHITA FALLS ARTS COMMISSION JANUARY 15, 1980 The Wichita Falls Arts Commission held its monthly meeting on January 15, 1980 at 12 Noon at the Activities Center. The following people were in attendance: NAME AND REPRESENTATION Polly Cox-WF Art Association Dorcas Chapman-At-large Mary H. Wolverton-WF Museum Jerry Estes-Symphony Jan Morrison-At-large Saundra Heffington-At-large Dr. Jennie Louise Hindman-At-large Carolyn Sanders-WF Ballet Theatre Dr. Don Maxwell-MSU Music Dept. Bob Arnold-Backdoor Theatre Heather Hamilton-Backdoor Theatre Beth Francell-(for Pat Jones)-Heritage Society Theda Gohkle-(for Don Burkman)-Auditorium Manager Chairman Saundra Heffington called the meeting to order and the previous minutes were approved as printed and mailed. Mrs. Heffing- ton announced that the next meeting would be February 19, 1980 at the Activities Center. Mrs. Heffington announced that $788.29 had been returned from the Wichita Falls Art Association from the grant they received, and that a balance of $238.00 remained in our 1979-80 allocation from the city for a total of $1,026.29 on hand. Carolyn Sanders moved that the application from the Wichita Falls Ballet Theatre and the Wichita Falls Musicians Club be processed and con- sidered for the remaining funds. The motion was seconded and passed. Dr. Jennie Louise Hindman moved that the chairman appoint a nominat- ing committee to slate officers for the coming year. The motion was seconded and passed. The nominating committee appointed is as follows: Pat Jones, Carolyn Sanders, and Don Maxwell. Carolyn Sanders lead a discussion on research into proposal deadlines for grant applications with the Texas Commission on the Arts. After discussion, Dorcas Chapman moved that the Wichita Falls Arts Commission adopt September 1 and February 1 as grant application deadlines to coincide with the Texas Commission's deadlines. The motion was seconded and passed. Mrs. Heffington appointed a committee to study and research long- range plans for the Arts Commission's Centennial Project. The PAGE 2 ARTS COMMISSION JANUARY 15, 1980 committee is as follows: Jerry Estes, Chairman, Pat Jones, Carolyn Sanders, Jan Morrison, and Polly Cox. Completed evaluation forms from previously funded projects were passed out. Mrs. Heffington asked each member to study these and be ready to discuss and revise these forms at the next meeting.
