Arts Commission Minutes - 07/17/1979 MINUTES OF THE WICHITA FALLS ARTS COMMISSION July 17, 1979
The Wichita Falls Arts Commission held its monthly meeting on
July 17, 1979 at 12:00 noon at the North Texas Savings and
Loan Gallery. The following people were in attendance:

Chairman Saundra Heffington called the meeting to order and
the minutes were approved as mailed, with the following cor-
rection: the spelling of Bonnie B. Whiters to Bonnie B. Whiteis.
Chairman Saundra Heffington urged us to support a Texas State
Commission on the Arts seminar to be held on July 26th at
North Texas Federal Gallery, beginning at 10 a.m. Gloria Lyday
and Aurora Alamon were asked to discuss the Midtown Fine Arts
League Application. Tim Connors discussed the MSU Department of
Music application, the project title is "Young Audiences and
Production Tour."
A very lengthy discussion followed concerning the timing and
approval by the City Council of monies designated to the Arts
Commission. Dorcas Chapman made the motion that the commission
delay voting recommendations on funds to be distributed through
the Arts Commission until the City Council Budget to be allocated
to the commission is established. Madge Muehlberger seconded the
motion. The motion did not pass. Dr. Jennie Louise Hindman made
the motion that we not vote on the application grants today. Jerry
Estes seconded. The motion carried.

Madge Muehlberger, chairman of the Activities Center opening,
gave a brief report on planned activites. The festivities
will be held September 28th & 29th and will be opened Sunday
afternoon, the 30th, for tours only.
The meeting was adjourned at 2:45 p.m.
