Arts Commission Minutes - 06/19/1979 MINUTES OF THE WICHITA FALLS ARTS COMMISSION June 19, 1979
The Wichita Falls Arts Commission held its monthly meeting on
June 19, 1979 at 12:00 noon at the North Texas Savings and
Loan Gallery. The following people were in attendance:

Chairman Saundra Heffington called the meeting to order and
the minutes were approved from the last meeting. Troy Jensen's
name was added to the list of new board members as it was
omitted. The next meeting was announced for July 17, 1979,
and attendance was stressed as this meeting will be the meeting
to vote on applications for Fiscal Year 1979-80. Chairman
Heffington announced that the Wichita Falls Arts Commission's
application had been approved by the City Council. She then
asked for approval that the Wichita Falls Arts Council support
a Texas State Commission on the Arts project that involved
a Grant-Writing Seminar to be held in Wichita Falls in late
July. Dick Gose made a motion to support this project and
Jennie Louise Hindman seconded. The motion carried unanimously.
Chairman Heffington called on a report from Jennie Louise
Hindman, Chairman of the Commission's screening committee.

Steve Howard was asked to discuss the Backdoor Theatre's
application "Research for Master Expansion Paln." Dr. Hindman
then called upon Mrs. Charles Stoltz to discuss this applica-
tion "Tourist/Student Theatre Promotion" followed by Tim
Connors who discussed M.S.U. 's Dept. of Theatre's application
for a theatre festival. Mr. Gary Lewis presented facts about
the Pianist Performance Council sponsored by M.S.U. 's with
discussion following concerning the Distinguished Artist Series.
Don Maxwell discussed the Midwestern State University project
application "Young Audiences & Production Tour". A discussion
and questions followed.
John Hampton spoke briefly to the group and Carolyn Sanders,
Chairman of the nominating committee reported this committee's
report. She stated that this committee recommended that the
same officers be nominated again for another year. Pat Jones
motioned that the motion be accepted by acclamation. Chairman
Heffington next formed a committee to plan the formal opening
of the Activities Center. This committee would be composed
of the following people:
