MINUTES OF THE WICHITA FALLS ARTS COMMISSION MAY 15, 1979
The Wichita Falls Arts Commission held its monthly meeting on
May 15, 1979 at 12:00 noon at the North Texas Savings and Loan
Gallery. The following people were in attendance:

Chairman Saundra Heffington called the meeting to order and the
minutes were approved from the last meeting. New board members
were introduced and they are:

David Murray At-large
Bob Arnold Backdoor Theatre
A brief history of the Commission was given by Saundra Heffington
for the benefit of the new board members.
Gwendolyn Jackson made the motion that we invite Susan Morehead,
Director of Texas Arts Alliance from Austin, to visit Wichita Falls
and speak to the Arts Commission. Jerry Estes seconded and the
motion carried.
Dr. Jenny Louise Hindman reported from the screening committee and
moved the commission accept the report. Jerry Estes seconded. The
motion passed. Dr. Jennie Louise Hindman moved that the screening
committee biE authorized to screen applications through July 15th.
Dick Gose seconded. The motion carried.
Jerry Estes made the motion that the museum be invited to submit a
grant application to come out of the next annual appropriation for
the purpose of assisting the museum in recovery from the April 10th
Disaster in the replacement of un-insured structual damage. Polly
Cox seconded the motion and it passed.

Dick Gose made the motion that we consider the Competitive Ceramic
Exhibit Application today. Dorcas Chapman seconded and the motion
carried. Dr. Hindman made the motion that the commission recommend
to the City Council that it grant the application to the Competitive
Ceramic Exhibit project in the amount of $2,500.00. Bob Arnold
seconded. The vote was by ballot and was unanimous in approval.
Chairman Heffington appointed Dick Gose to the screening committee
to fill the vacancy created by Johnny Hampton leaving the commission.
Saundra Heffington also appointed a nominating committee consisting of:
Carolyn Sanders, Chairman, Mary H. Wolverton and Don Maxwell.
It was announced the next meeting will be June 19th at North Texas
Federal in the Gallery Room at 12 noon. The meeting was adjourned
at 1:45 p.m.
