City Traffic Report
John Burrus circulated a list of routine projects pending for the traffic department.
State Traffic Report
Mr. Clyde Williford reported that the state is doing concrete work on I44 and still
working on the ramps for the overhead.
Unfinished Business
Item 01 -02: Public Service Announcements
Elaine Bourgoin reported that she still has not been in contact with the
school regarding access to their media. Item to remain open.
Item 01 -04: Speedway/Harrison Traffic Controls
John Burrus reported that they now have the software needed to perform
the traffic study. Results should be completed by the next commission meeting. Item to
remain open.
Item 01 -13: Radar Trailer -
Mr. Burrus advised that the kits do not come without a trailer. The
complete cost is $7200 per unit. Brad Altman & Joe Clement will check for outside
funding to purchase one unit. Item to remain open.
Item 01 -14: Fall Safety Patrol Activity
Trooper Joe Clement reported that the party was a success. He
suggested that the commission consider splitting the party into two nights next year
because of the traffic problems created by that large number of children. Trooper Clement
will try to get the same price for next year. Item closed.
Items of Discussion
Mr. John Burrus advised the commission of a debate regarding the
Lebanon area. The city is considering making a no parking zone on one side of the street
due to the width of the travel area and the amount of traffic. Mr. Burrus stated that on
Lawrence Rd. the traffic count was 3290 where as on Lebanon the count was 4541 during
the same period. The street is 28 feet wide and if vehicles are parked on both sides that
only leaves 14 feet of travel space which is below allowed clearance. Mr. Burrus advised
that meetings and public service announcements are being made to inform the public of the
changes.
Mrs. Bourgoin questioned the commission if they wished to schedule
the annual commission workshop. The commission agreed the March meeting date would
be appropriate. Mrs. Bourgoin agreed to make the necessary arrangements and advise the
members at the February meeting.
