The February meeting of the Wichita Falls Traffic Safety Commission was called to
order by Chairman Jody Wade at 1:40 P.M.
Elaine Bourgoin gave the invocation.

Chairman Wade recognized and welcomed Mr. Ty Walker, representative of the
Insurance Claims Adjuster and Mr. Ken Parker as representative of the WFISD.
The financial report and minutes for the January meeting were approved as
written.
Sgt. Brad Hardin circulated the accident statistics and noted the top 10 locations
that will be worked to try to improve traffic control.
City Traffic Report
John Burrus advised that the scheduled projects are running smoothly. Mr. Burrus
advised that they are still working on the computerization of red lights and looking at
traffic flow management. Mr. Burrus offered the commission members a tour of the traffic
control center during the annual workshop for a better understanding of what is involved
to maintain traffic. The department will be looking at the area of Indiana, Scott, and
Lamar to get a better picture of traffic conditions without construction.
State Traffic Report
Mr. Tim Hertel advised the commission that the Kell project is ahead of schedule
being about 50 - 60% complete. The only thing left on the overhead project is the work
being done on the ramps. Mr. Hertel advised that the normal speed limit will be 50 m.p.h.
both directions upon completion.
Unfinished Business
Item 01 -02: Public Service Announcements
Elaine Bourgoin reported that Patsy Walls is still working with the Public
Information office on PSA's. Mr. Ken Parker advised that Renea Murphy will work with
the commission for the school channel. Item to remain open.
Item 01 -04: Speedway/Harrison Traffic Controls
John Burrus reported that they now have the software needed to perform
the traffic study. Results should be completed by the next commission meeting. Item to
remain open.
Item 01 -13: Radar Trailer
Mr. Ty Walker advised the commission that he has sent through a
proposal for the purchase of one trailer kit. No reply as yet. Will report next month
regarding the status of the request. Item to remain open.

Items of Discussion
Elaine Bourgoin advised the commission that reservations have been
made for the Log Cabin in Lucy Park for the March meeting and annual workshop. Mrs.
Bourgoin requested that each member notify her if they would not be able to attend.
Lunch will be provided. The workshop should run from 9:00 A.M. to approx. 2:00 P.M.
There being no further business before the Commission, the meeting was adjourned
at 2:12 P.M.
