The April meeting of the Wichita Falls Traffic Safety Commission was called to
order by Chairman Jody Wade at 1:35 p.m.
Mr. Henry Oliver gave the invocation.
Commission members introduced themselves to Mr. Darron Leiker, Assistant City
Manager and Director of Transportation.

The financial report and minutes for the March meeting were approved as written.
Sgt. Brad Hardin circulated the accident statistics and noted the top 10 locations
that will be worked to try to improve traffic control.
City Traffic Report
John Burrus advised the commission that the signal lights downtown are being
removed today. Next Tuesday, the intersection of Harrison and Speedway will be changed
from a traffic light to stop signs. Mr. Burrus also advised the commission that in the
upcoming budget requests, he will budget for the flashing light units for the crosswalks.
State Traffic Report
Mr. Clyde Williford advised that there is nothing to report.
Committee Reports
Public Service Announcements - Elaine Bourgoin reported that the video for the
MSU Bicycle Team is scheduled to be shot on Monday, April 22, 2002. Should have more
to report during the next meeting.
School Zone Committee - Sgt. Brad Hardin reported that the committee will report
back to the commission at the May meeting.
Unfinished Business
Item 01 -13: Radar Trailer
Mr. Ty Walker advised the commission that State Farm will not be able to
provide funding for the radar trailers. The commission discussed ways that funding could
be raised for the project. Chairman Jody Wade appointed a committee to work on the
different options and develop a plan of action to report at the next meeting. Members
appointed to the committee are John Burrus, Sgt. Brad Hardin, Tom Walls, Linda
Ammons, and Jody Wade. Item to remain open.
New Business
Item 02 -02: Spring Safety Patrol Party
Elaine Bourgoin reported that Thursday, May 23rd from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m .
will be the time and date for the party at Sand Beach Swimming Pool. Mrs. Bourgoin,"
reminded members of their assignments to make the party successful. Everyone was
encouraged to be there to help with supervision of the participants. Item to remain open.
Item 02 -03: Lake Park Dr. at Weeks Pk. Lane
John Burrus reported that the city ordinance allows for restriction of
parking on the street when conditions exist to create safety problems. His recommendation
is to restrict parking on the north side of the street. He will arrange for press coverage and
should have the work completed within two weeks.

Items of Discussion
MSgt. Jim Zillweger announced that the May meeting will be his last meeting to
represent Sheppard Air Force Base. He will be retiring from the Air Force but plans to
stay in the area.
There being no further business before the Commission, the meeting was adjourned
at 2:42 P.M.
