Lt. R.W. Smith - Wichita Falls Police Dept.
Co- Chairman Tim Hertel called the April meeting of the Wichita Falls Traffic
Safety Commission to order at 1:40 p.m.
Mr. Clyde Williford gave the invocation.
Mr. Hertel recognized and welcomed Lt. R.W. Smith with the Wichita Falls Police
Department Traffic Division to the meeting.
The financial report and minutes for March were approved as written.

The accident statistics were circulated for review. Sgt. Brad Hardin advised the
commission that the traffic unit would be working the top accident locations in the coming
month. Sgt. Hardin also advised the commission that the downtown area has leveled out or
decreased on the number of accidents. Most were related to either weather or construction.
There have been zero accidents downtown regarding the changes in the signs in the last 30
days.
City Traffic Report
Mr. Mark Beauchamp reported to the commission that the Kell light project
to change out the lights is in progress. The annual stripping project has also begun. Mr.
Beauchamp also advised that the department will be looking at the lane markings around
the overhead, Seymour Hwy. and Broad.
State Traffic Report
Mr. Tim Hertel advised that there was nothing new to report at this time.
The ongoing projects are still underway.
Unfinished Business
Item 03 -03: Safe School Routes
Remain open for discussion at next meeting.
New Business
None.
Items of Discussion
Mr. Don Vann advised the need to discuss and plan the Spring Safety Patrol Party.
The item will be added to the May agenda.
Mr. Ken Parker advised that he had received a complaint from a concerned parent
regarding the sidewalks at McNeil Jr. High School. Mr. Leiker advised that he would take
a look at the situation to determine what can be done.
There being no further business before the Commission, the meeting was
adjourned at 2:30 P.M.
