Smith Elaine Bourgoin Brad Altman Ken Parker Mark Beauchamp Jody Wade Tom Walls Ty Walker Clyde Williford Darron Leiker EX- OFFICIO MEMBERS PRESENT: Councilor Linda Ammons VISITORS MEMBERS ABSENT: Steven Young Al Sutko - excused Don Vann - excused EX- OFFICIO MEMBERS ABSENT Jim Zillweger Chairman Jody Wade called the November meeting of the Wichita Falls Traffic Safety Commission to order at 1:36 p.m. Trooper Joe Clement gave the invocation. The minutes for October were approved as written. The financial reports for October were approved. Page 1 Lt. R.W. Smith reviewed the accident statistics with the commission. City Traffic Report Mr. Mark Beauchamp reported to the commission that the new traffic management system is up and running. All others projects are routine. State Traffic Report Mr. Tim Hertel advised the commission that TXDOT is still working on Southwest Parkway & Lake Rd. They are also working on a new traffic management system. Unfinished Business Item 03 -09: Safety Patrol Evaluations Trooper Joe Clement reported that the Dare Officers will be assisting with the safety patrol evaluations. The teachers are coordinating better at each campus and the schools are becoming more involved. Item closed. Item 03 -10: New Legislation Mrs. Elaine Bourgoin reported that the proposed ordinance is scheduled for the next City Council meeting. After review of the proposed ordinance, the commission voted unanimously to rewrite the proposed ordinance to prohibit the use of the motor assisted scooters on streets, highways, and alleys by anyone under the age of 16 unless in possession of a valid license. Commission members were encouraged to attend the council meeting in support of the ordinance. Item 03 -12: Election of Officers Lt. R.W. Smith advised the commission that the Nomination Committee nominates Mr. Tim Hertel as Chairman and Mr. Mark Beauchamp as Co -Chair for 2004. The commission unanimously voted to elect Mr. Hertel as Chairman and Mr. Beauchamp as Co- Chair. Item closed. New Business Item 03 -13: Review of Solicitation Ordinance Councilor Linda Ammons advised the commission that the ordinance had died for lack of second. The issue is null and void. Item closed. Items of Discussion Lt. R. W. Smith advised the commission that the traffic unit is looking at school bus violations and will report back to the commission when the information is gathered.
