Chairman Tim Hertel called the May meeting of the Wichita Falls Traffic Safety
Commission to order at 1:38 p.m.
Deputy Clyde Williford gave the invocation.
The minutes for April were approved as written.
The financial reports for April were approved.
Lt. R.W. Smith reviewed the top 10 accident locations with the commission. Lt.
Smith will be revising the existing report to give more information for future meetings.

City Traffic Report
Mr. Mark Beauchamp reported to the commission that there have not been any
accidents on 8`h Street since the change over to two -way traffic. He has had positive
feedback from the change. Mr. Beauchamp advised that a project is being
conducted on Missile Rd. and he will give more results at the next meeting.
State Traffic Report
Mr. Davis Powell reported to the commission that TXDOT has made changes at the
main gate of Sheppard Air Force Base and the Hospital entrance. Hopefully the
changes will improve the driving conditions in those areas. A project to widen FM
369 is planned as well as adding more motion detectors in the city.
Unfinished Business
Item 04 -04: Proposed Ordinance — Acceleration
Item to remain open. Item is still pending addition to the council agenda.
Item 04 -05: Proposal — Commission Membership
Mr. Brad Altman explained the proposal to review the commission ordinance
to add another position for industries that frequently travel city streets. Members agreed
that these individuals would be able to contribute to the commission's goals to provide
better traffic safety within the community. Elaine Bourgoin will draft a revision for review
at the next meeting. Item to remain open.
New Business
Item 04 -06: Spring Safety Patrol Swim Party
Elaine Bourgoin advised the commission that the swimming pool at Lucy
Park has been reserved for Thursday, May 27`h from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Mr. Don Vann
has arranged for the campuses to be divided into two groups and staggered for the party.
The first group will swim from 4:00 to 5:30 p.m. The second group will swim from 6:00 to
7:30 p.m. This method will allow time for the groups to enjoy swimming and hot dogs and
then clear out before the next group arrives. It should also allow time for the parents to
pick up the children prior to close time at 8:00 p.m. Mrs. Bourgoin encouraged all
members to attend to help chaparone the children and to help with the refreshments.
Assignments were made to prepare for the event:
Lt. R.W. Smith will arrange for the cooker and hot dogs.
Don Vann will arrange for the buns, catsup, and mustard.
Ken Parker will arrange for the drinks and cups.
Mark Beauchamp will arrange for the ice.
Betty Tanner - Shelby will arrange for the coolers for the drinks and hot dogs.
Elaine Bourgoin will be responsible for reminders to each member.

East parking lot on 6th St. entrance. Spanish language interpreters,
