Chairman Tim Hertel called the January meeting of the Wichita Falls Traffic Safety
Commission to order at 1:32 p.m.
Mr. Jody Wade gave the invocation.
The minutes for November were approved as written.
The financial reports for November & December were approved.
Lt. R.W. Smith reviewed the accident statistics with the commission.

City Traffic Report
Mr. Darron Leiker reported to the commission that the bids for the project on Loop
11 to the Interstate should be let in 2005. Mr. Mark Beauchamp reported that they are
working on the new Intelligent Traffic System and that it has been a smooth transition. All
others projects are routine.
State Traffic Report
Mr. Tim Hertel advised the commission that TXDOT is still working on
Southwest Parkway & Lake Rd. The project should be completed in the spring. The
roadway work on Southwest Parkway is complete and they are now working on the
sidewalks and ramps.
Unfinished Business
Item 03 -10: New Legislation
Mrs. Elaine Bourgoin reported that the ordinance addressing the use of the
motor assisted scooters was adopted by City Council. The adopted version was not the one
recommended by the commission, however, the ordinance will alleviate the concerns of the
commission. Item closed.
New Business
None
Items of Discussion
Lt. R. W. Smith advised the commission that the traffic unit is looking at school bus
violations and they have mailed surveys to the school bus drivers to determine the
problems involved. The topic will be added as an agenda item for the February meeting
for the report.
Mr. Brad Altman questioned if there was any other new legislation that the
commission should review. Elaine Bourgoin will bring copies of the new traffic legislation
and cover at the next meeting. The topic will be added as an agenda item.
There being no further business before the Commission, the meeting was
adjourned at 2:15 P.M.
