Chairman Tim Hertel called the September Traffic Safety Commission to order at
1:36 p.m.
Mr. Mark Beauchamp gave the invocation.
The financial report and minutes for the August meeting were approved as written.
Accident Statistics
Lt. R.W. Smith presented the accident statistics. The problems being
experienced at the intersection of Rathgeber Rd. and Jacksboro were looked at a little more
closely. The review indicated that there have been four accidents. Three of those failed to
yield right of way and one was due to driver inattention and following too closely. Only
one of the accidents involved an injury. TXDOT is planning to put up a flasher to get
people's attention. The commission agreed to continue to follow up on that area.

City Traffic Report
Mr. Mark Beauchamp advised the commission that the new timing system
will go live next week in the areas of Kemp & Kell and Callfield & Lawrence. The crews
have been working a lot of hours getting ready for the Hotter than Hell Bicycle race.
State Traffic Report
Mr. Hertel advised the commission that approval has now been received
on the Direct Connect project. Work should start within the next two weeks and should
take approximately three years to complete.
Unfinished Business
1. Item 05 -03: Safety Patrol Party Alternatives
Mr. Beachamp has not had an opportunity to check with
Straight Street to determine to what extent they would be able to help. The Junior League
is interested in helping with the school crossing guard's evaluations. They will contact Joe
Clement to make the necessary arrangements. Item to remain open.
2. Item 05 -04: Legislative Updates
Mrs. Bourgoin handed out copies of the legislative changes and went over
the highlights of the laws pertaining to most citizens. Item closed.
New Business
None
Items of Discussion
Elaine Bourgoin advised that when the city ordinance was presented to City
Council several years ago, the ordinance and bylaws which govern our commission were
approved. However, some how, the bylaws were not signed. We will have to take them
back for signature. Item to be added to agenda item for a future meeting.
There being no further business before the commission, the meeting was adjourned
at 2:45 P.M.

Wheelchair or handicapped accessibility to the meeting is possible by
