Smith - unexcused Brad Altman - unexcused Joe Clement - excused Laney Oliver - unexcused Terry Stagg - excused Betty Tanner - Shelby - unexcused Patrick Gray - unexcused EX- OFFICIO MEMBERS ABSENT Councilor Linda Ammons - unexcused VISITORS Steve Sinatra - Sheppard Air Force Base Safety Office Chairman Tim Hertel called the June meeting of the Wichita Falls Traffic Safety Commission to order at 1:39 p.m. Mr. Al Sutko gave the invocation. The minutes for the April meeting were approved as written. The financial reports for May were approved. Accident Statistics None due to Lt. R.W. Smith's absence. Page 1 City Traffic Report Mr. Mark Beauchamp reported to the commission that the Missile Rd. lighting upgrade is now complete. The next project starts next week on the lighting on Kemp St. from Kell to Hampstead. They are also in the process of upgrading signals at the main gate at Sheppard Air Force Base for pedestrian crossings. They are also working on crosswalks at First Baptist Church as well as United Regional Hospital on 11th St. State Traffic Report Chairman Hertel advised the commission that crosswalks and curb ramps at the main gate at Sheppard Air Force Base are in the planning stage. ADA ramps will also be included at the same time. A start date has not been given for the project. Committee Reports None. Unfinished Business Item 05 -03: Spring Safety Patrol Swim Party Elaine Bourgoin reported that once again the party had to be cancelled due to inclement weather conditions. Cookies and sodas were provided to each campus patrol unit the following morning for their last day of school. Mrs. Bourgoin suggested that we try to come up with an alternate plan that can be implemented under these circumstances. Item held for further discussion. New Business Item 05 -04: Legislative Update Elaine Bourgoin advised the commission that legislature is being called back into special session. Mrs. Bourgoin will be attending the legislature update seminar in August and should be able to report back to the commission at that time. Item to remain open. Items of discussion Mr. Jim Zillweger presented an article that he had been asked to bring to the commission regarding the accidents that have occurred at Jacksboro Highway at Rathgeber Rd. The letter was from a resident that had been involved in an accident at the intersection. The vehicle was totaled and there were injuries. The individual was asking the commission to take another look at the area to determine if there is anything that can be done to stop the accidents. Mr. Beauchamp and Mr. Hertel will again review the area for any possible solutions. There being no further business before the Commission, the meeting was adjourned at 2:45 P.M.
