Smith Mark Beauchamp Clyde Williford Elaine Bourgoin Laney Oliver EX- OFFICIO MEMBERS PRESENT: Charles Cypher Mayor Lanham Lyne VISITORS MEMBERS ABSENT: Tom Walls - excused Don Vann - unexcused Tim Turner - unexcused Joe Clement - unexcused Patrick Gray - unexcused Ryan Matthews - unexcused Tim Hertel - excused Al Sutko — excused Betty Tanner - Shelby - excused EX- OFFICIO MEMBERS ABSENT Co- Chairman Mark Beauchamp called the October Traffic Safety Commission to order at 1:35 p.m. Deputy Clyde Williford gave the invocation. Co- Chairman Mark Beauchamp welcomed Mayor Lyne as the commission liaison. The financial report and minutes for the September meeting were approved as written. Accident Statistics Lt. R.W. Smith presented the accident statistics. There are two areas on this report that show to be high volume areas. The entrance to Wal -Mart on Lawrence road and the intersection of Kemp and Southwest Parkway. After analyzing the situation, all of the accidents there were caused by driver inattention. Otherwise, accidents are on a downward trend. Page 1 City Traffic Report Mr. Mark Beauchamp advised the commission that his department has several projects scheduled. TXDOT and the City are working together to address issues with the turn lanes and signals at Fairway & Kell. The city is also going to be resynchronizing the signals in the area of Galveston and Jacksboro Highway in the near future. They are going to start the sign change outs starting on Eastside Dr. They are also going to continue the project of using thermoplastic to redo makings on streets citywide. State Traffic Report Mr. Mark Beauchamp reported for Mr. Hertel that the project on Jacksboro Hwy. & Eastside Dr. is complete. Unfinished Business Item 05 -03: Safety Patrol Party Alternatives Mr. Beauchamp reported that everything has been arranged to use Straight Street for future events. Item closed. New Business Item 05 -05: Appointment of Nomination Committee Co- Chairman Beauchamp appointed Lt. R.W. Smith, Deputy Clyde Williford, and Ms. Laney Oliver as the nomination committee for the 2006 officers. The election will be at the November meeting. Item to remain open. Item 05 -06: Parking on King's Highway Co- Chairman Beauchamp advised that the party filing the complaint did not attend today's meeting. Item closed. Item 05 -07: Ordinance on Mini Bikes Lt. R.W. Smith reported that he is working with City Prosecutor Elaine Sample on an ordinance to prohibit the use of mini bikes on any thoroughfare. Item to remain open. Item 05 -08: Council Approval of Bylaws Mrs. Elaine Bourgoin advised that the approval is simply an administrative cleanup and will go to council in the near future. Item to remain open.
