MEMBERS ABSENT:
Ms. Andrea Williams called the meeting to order at 4:15 P.M. A quorum of current members was
present. The minutes of the May 25, 2004 meeting were approved.
Ms. Hughes reported that Gracie Gregg had resigned from the Library Advisory Board due to
health problems. Linda Donart had also resigned. There are currently four vacancies on the Board, which
with the major project underway was a problem. She asked that Board Members actively seek applicants to
fill the vacancies.
Andrew Jelen passed out copies of a Power Point presentation that could run during the One Book
Once Community presentations. He was working on a brochure, but needed the Board to adopt the official
logo. After discussion of the five proposed designs from Archangel Studios, the Board unanimously
selected a logo. Ms. Hughes will ask Gabriel Barrera of Archangel to produce the logo in CD -ROM format
so Andrew can cut and past it as needed.
The Board then discussed possible timelines for the project, deciding to begin by inviting members
of the community and the media to a kick -off meeting in which the project will be explained and volunteers
signed up for various committees to support the event. Andrew agreed to work on a Press Release to go out
on September 20, with invitations to be mailed on September 27, and the meeting to be held on October 11
in Room 202 at the Library. The Board agreed that even though invitations were being issued, anyone
interested would be welcome. Ms. Williams proposed that the rest of the timeline needed to be discussed at
the September meeting, especially the selection of the title to be read this year. The Board agreed that the
first One Community, One Book event would take place in October 2005.
Ms. Williams announced the next scheduled meeting of the Library Advisory Board to be
September 28 at 4:15 in the Conference Room. The meeting adjourned at 5:45 PM.
