Division of Fine Arts Ms. Emily Moyer Jones, Greater Wichita Falls Alliance for Performing Arts Mr. Gari Boehm, Wichita Falls Ballet Theatre Ms. Janette Watson, Wichita Falls Community Messiah John Vitek, Chairman, called the meeting of the Wichita Falls Arts Commission to order at 11:30 a.m. at the Fain Fine Arts Center. Heather Tedford moved that the reading of the minutes of the last meeting, November 10, 2000, be dispensed with. The motion was seconded by Elizabeth Edwards and carried by unanimous vote. Chairman Vitek welcomed new Arts Commission Members who are Elizabeth Edwards, Eleni Moshtaghi, and Jeanette Bradley. Don Burkman, Arts Commission Administrator, stated that the Oath of Office had been administered individually to each of these new members. A report from the nominating committee composed of Joe Tom White, Randolph Duke, and Jim Pettyjohn was presented by Joe Tom White who moved to nominate the following officers for the Wichita Falls Arts Commission to serve for fiscal year 2001/2002: John Vitek, Chairman Heather Tedford, Vice Chairman Jean Hall, Secretary A motion to nominate these officers was made by Bill Niles and seconded by Elizabeth Edwards. The motion carried by unanimous vote. A discussion followed concerning grant applications for funding from the FY 2001/2002 Budget. The following applications have been received from local 501 -0 organizations on or before the May I" deadline and were approved for consideration for funding by a City Council Subcommittee on Outside Agency Funding on July 26, 2001: Amount Organization Project/Title Requested Wichita Falls Ballet W.F.B.T. Alliance for Community Performance $12,500 the Performing Arts TOTAL REQUESTED $93,030 Chairman Vitek stated that one application from the Arts Council, Wichita Falls Area, Inc. which was originally included in those applications approved by the City Council Sub Committee on Outside Agency Funding has since been withdrawn by this organization. The Board of Directors of this agency is going to fund this project from other sources. Presentations were made by representatives of non - profit organizations requesting funding from the 2001 -2002 FY budget. These organizations were Wichita Falls Ballet Theatre, Inc., Wichita Falls Symphony Orchestra, Inc. Wichita County Heritage Society, Inc., Midwestern State University Department of Art, Wichita Falls Backdoor Players, Inc., Midwestern State University Choral Department, Wichita Falls Community Messiah, Inc., Wichita Falls Railroad Museum, Inc., and The Greater Wichita Falls Alliance for the Performing Arts. Following the presentations, there was no discussion to consider not recommending funding for any of the applications. Balloting followed with each Commission member filling out an individual ballot. These ballots were then averaged by applicant to produce the following recommendation to the City Council for funding from the FY 2001 -2002 Budget: Organization W.F. Ballet Theatre, Inc. W.F.
