4A Wichita Falls Economic Development Minutes - 12/02/2005MINUTES OF THE WICHITA FALLS ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION December 2, 2005 Present: Members: Gary Shores, President Bo Stahler, Vice - President Dave Lilley Lou Rodriguez Bill Altman City Staff: Matt Benoit, Assistant City Manger Darron Leiker, City Manager Bill Sullivan, City Attorney Scott Taylor, Director, Public Works Cheryl Elliott, Recording Secretary BCI: Tim Chase, President Kevin Pearson, Vice - President of Economic Development City Council: Lanham Lyne, Mayor Charles Elmore, District 5 President Shores called the meeting to order at 4:03 p.m. Minutes of the meeting of October 14, 2005 were approved as presented. The committee went into Executive Session at 4:05 p.m. as authorized by Sections 551.087 and 551.072 of the TExAs GOVERNMENT CODE. The committee reconvened at 4:58 p.m. No action was taken on items III, IV, V, or VII. On other items, Tim Chase noted there would be a rally /demonstration at Delphi on Friday, December 9. He said it is not designed to be a strike. Some individuals, e.g. the mayor, will be asked to say a few words on how much we support and want them to stay. UAW is organizing this rally. Tim was hesitant but talked to Ben Filer. There will be an economic impact regardless of what happens. Even if the plant stays open with a reduction in workforce or pay there will be economic impact. If there is a consolidation of plants in Texas, we want them to stay here. The governor will write a letter to Delphi to support them coming to Wichita Falls. Filer believes we are facing the greatest WF Economic Development Corporation December 2, 2005 Minutes 2 catastrophic change in American manufacturing in this country.
