REPRESENTATIVE: Dr. Miller, M.D. WICHITA FALLS CITY COUNCIL: Not Present WICHITA FALLS CITY MANAGER'S OFFICE: Matt Benoit, Assistant City Manager MINUTES: I. Call to Order Kathy Sultemeier called the meeting to order at 12:20 p.m. II. Approval of Minutes: Dr. Sultemeier asked for motion for approval of minutes of the April 28, 2006 meeting. Dr. Rains moved the motion and Robin Moreno seconded the motion. The motion passed. III. Open Government Training — Lou Franklin, Interim Director of Health Discussion was entered to postpone the training due to the lengthiness and enable Lou Franklin to review the requirements of this training for advisory boards. Dr. Sultemeier asked for a motion Dr. Raines made a motion and Beverly Stiles seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously. Amy Cone of the Bioterrorism Program gave an update of responsibilities in the planning, response and recovery for a variety of emergencies related to Public Health. The Center for Disease Control initiated the program and it's the Federal initiative to upgrade state and local Public Health jurisdictions preparedness. The Homeland Security coordination involves the linking of response systems to strengthen and maintain networks that will assist to prevent, detect, report, investigate, and control to make this country more secure. The presentation ended after a brief discussion on Health Dissemination - Health Alerts, Pandemic Influenza Planning, Strategic National Stockpile, Citizen Volunteer Training, Medical Reserve Corp, Exercise and Revise. V. Next Meeting Date: The next meeting will be held on August 25, 2006. VII. Adjourn: Kathy Sultemeier asked for motion to adjourn. The motion was made by Robin Moreno and seconded by Bryan Press.
