Jerry Crawford VISITORS MEMBERS ABSENT: Tom Walls - excused Clyde Williford - excused Charlie Byars - excused Ryan Matthews — unexcused Laney Oliver - excused Bettye Tanner - Shelby - unexcused Don Vann — unexcused Kevin Callahan — unexcused Rick Hatcher - excused EX- OFFICIO MEMBERS ABSENT Mayor Lanham Lyne Chairman Mark Beauchamp called the June Traffic Safety Commission meeting to order at 1:38 p.m. Lt. R.W. Smith offered the invocation. Chairman Beauchamp welcomed Mr. John Burrus, Director of Transportation. The financial report and minutes for the May meeting were approved with one amendment to correct a grammatical error. Accident Statistics Lt. R. W. Smith presented the accident statistics. Areas of concern remain fairly constant. Lt. Smith explained that the number of accidents was up while the number of injuries was down. There was one fatality accident on 6 -3 -06 involving a drunk driver which consisted of two accidents by the same driver. They are also looking at the installation of new signals and breakaway poles in the areas of Johnson Rd. and Barnett Rd. The city has received approval for funding from the Texas Dept. of Transportation for area projects. State Traffic Report Mr. Tim Hertel reported that the Direct Connect project has reached the 34% completion mark. They are ahead of schedule at this point. Committee Reports None at this time. Unfinished Business Item 06 -03: Street Numbers Chairman Beauchamp reported that there is a city ordinance requiring that all addresses be numbered. Item closed. Item 06 -04: Safety Patrol Party Mrs. Bourgoin reported that the party was successful even though the number attending was down from most events. Mr. Vann awarded the trophy for the top safety patrol program during the party. Item closed. New Business Item 06 -05: Audible Pedestrian Signals Chairman Beauchamp reported that the request for audible signals for the downtown area is still being researched. Item to remain open. Items of Discussion None. There being no further business before the commission, the meeting was adjourned at 2:55 P.M.
