Chairman Mark Beauchamp called the October meeting of the Wichita Falls Traffic
Safety Commission to order at 1:35 p.m.
Councilor Rick Hatcher offered the invocation.
Chairman Beauchamp welcomed TSgt. Shaundana Vernon from Sheppard Air
Force Base to today's meeting. Commission members introduced themselves.
The minutes and financial report for September were approved as written.

Accident Statistics
Lt. Brad Hardin reported that there were a total of 301 accidents for the month. 72
injury accidents with 1 fatality. There were 63 hit and run accidents for the month
and 4 motorcycle accidents which were all contributed to excessive speed.
City Traffic Report
Chairman Beauchamp reported that the striping and painting project has been
completed. They will be rebuilding the intersection at 5th and Broad. Mr.
Beauchamp advised the commission that the sign shop is being remodeled and
installing new equipment.
State Traffic Report
Mr. Tim Hertel reported to the commission that the flyover grand opening
should be held on November 13th. The event will be publicized when it is closer to
time.
Committee Report — Chairman Beauchamp reported that the committee has been working
on a public service announcement addressing what to do when you come upon an
accident. Committee members are Laney Oliver, Brad Hardin, David Brock, and
Chairman Mark Beauchamp.
Unfinished Business
1. Item 07 -01: Solicitation Ordinance
Chairman Beauchamp advised that he will be presenting the ordinance as
previously revised to add the vest requirement to council. Item to remain
open.
2. Item 07 -05: Safety Patrol Swim Party
Chairman Beauchamp reported that he is checking on the MPEC. Item to
remain open.
3. Item 07 -07: Maplewood & Midwestern Parkway
Chairman Beauchamp advised that he is waiting on reports. Item to remain
open.
4. Item 07 -08: Rivercrest at Seymour Rd.
Chairman Beauchamp advised he is still waiting on reports. Item to remain
open.
Items of Discussion
Mr. Tim Turner reported to the commission that there are several areas of
concern at school crossing zones. Mr. Turner presented a list of different areas.
Commission members agreed to add the item to the next agenda for further study.
