Mr. Brown presented the Policy Board with a list of Prioritized Projects. He stated that out of the
Wichita Falls MPO TPC Meeting August 24, 2011 Page 1 of 2
list there were two projects chosen for funding by the Proposition 12 Bonds. The first project
was the US 82 Windthorst Road Bridge. The Windthorst Road Bridge that crosses over US 287,
connects Central Freeway east bound to Central Freeway west bound, and needs repair. Due to
the large 18- wheeler trucks, the bridge has sustained heavy damage. The repair will consist of
replacing the bridge and the approaches. The second project was on State Highway 79 near
Professional Drive. Repair on State Highway 79 will consist of resurfacing from 0.5 miles north
of Professional Drive to 0.5 miles south of Professional Drive. Resurfacing will include work to
improve the structure of the road under the driving surface, complete with an overlay. TxDOT
will install a designated left turn lane in the north and south bound lanes for access to
Professional Drive. Finally, TxDOT will upgrade the street signals and lights at the intersection.
Mr. Brown anticipates starting the Windthorst Bridge project in the summer of 2012. The State
Highway 79 project should begin in the summer of 2013.
Mayor Barham asked for any other questions or comments about the recommended projects.
Receiving none, he asked for a motion to approve the projects. Mr. Schreiber made the motion
to approve the projects. Mayor Halloway seconded the motion, which passed unanimously.
