TIMEo EX- OFFICIO MEMBERS ABSENT Stan Horton called the October 5th meeting of the Wichita Falls Traffic Safety Commission to order at 1:30 p.m. The minutes were approved after revision for September 2011. The financial report for October was presented by Stan Horton. Balance is $0.00. Accident Statistics: Karl Lillie of WFPD advised the total crashes for September were 276 of which 68 were injury accidents. There have been 7 fatalities for 2011. A new class of 10 -81 operators have graduated and these officers will be concentrating on DWI arrest. Also, there have been 70 accidents to date that alcohol was involved and 134 DWI arrests made to date. PAGE 1 City Traffic Report Mark Beauchamp advised all projects are all about the same but in different stages. 1. The LED change out on Broad Street was completed. Holiday Street should be finished within the week. 2. Intersection of Barnett and Southwest Parkway has a new systems update. It will be operated with radar to eliminate shadows that may cause false triggers. This system will also detect bikes and has the new state of the art ADA system. This will increase the traffic flow making it much more efficient. State Traffic Report David Rhomer advised of the following: 1. Windthorst Rd overpass will be letting in 2012. 2. Archer City Highway and Professional Dr. will be realigned in 2013. 3. Intersection of 287 and 281 will be seeing some upgrades in high mast lighting. They have become brittle over time and need to be replaced. Committee Reports 1. "Safe Routes to School ": Mark Beauchamp advised no change at this time other than they are trying to add another school in the future. Washington Jackson, Crocket, and Fowler are being targeted at this time for this program. Unfinished Business: None New Business: 1. The new DWI awareness sign that Mark Beauchamp created looks like a speed limit sign that read" .08 Please Don't Drink and Drive." These signs will be used a city functions for now. The TSC is interested in any feedback on these new signs. 2. Nomination of officers: Mark Beauchamp nominated Dennis Marquardt as Chair and Charles Grady as Co- Chair. The nomination was seconded by Karl Lillie. A vote was cast and the motion passed unanimously. 3. Mark Beauchamp advised we should start our publications for the 2012 Bicycle Rodeo.
