up around the end of the year.
5. The city is doing a speed limit study and is in the process of
making some possible revisions.
1. Movement of the existing exit ramp at Kell and Fairway is still
underway but should be finished soon.
2. The new 75 mph speed limit signs are being installed in the
appropriate areas. Other roads may be included after studies
have been completed.
3. High mast illumination replacement at 281/287 intersection has
a contractor and will began soon.
1. Last month, Mark mentioned a concern in accidents at the
intersection of Harrison and Hampstead. He advised a request had
been made by Don and Karen Hamilton for the TSC to look at the
safety of this intersection. Mark gave stats that reflected a decrease in
accidents over the last few years; therefore, appears speed was the
only factor that could be attributed to the accidents. Mark also
advised that statistics showed that 6 of the last 9 accidents involved
residents who live in this area so they are familiar with it and the
posted speed. Mark advised he was going to try some traffic
recognition techniques in order to help the situation.
2. Don and Karen Hamilton came to voice their opinion and express
concerns about this intersection.
3. Bill Horton advised the Old High school is having some problems
at the corner at Ave H and Monroe. The children are leaving
school and waiting for their parents at this intersection causing a
traffic hazard. Mark Beauchamp advised the city was willing to
place signs that state "No Standing /Stopping /Parking."
