Park Board Minutes - 01/26/2012Wichita Falls Park Board Meeting January 26, 2012 W.F. Recreation Center Room 202, 60011 "' Street 1:30 p.m. Presiding: Alan Donaldson /Chairperson Members Present: Alan Donaldson, Penny Miller, Peg Marquardt, Mike Rucker, John Fritzsch, Stephen Garner Stephen Priester and Ben Filer Members Absent: Sharon Roach, John Hirschi, and Jim Miller Staff Present: Jack Murphy, Scott McGee, Travis Pence & Genice Wilson City Council Representative: Mary Ward CALL TO ORDER: Alan Donaldson called the meeting to order at 1:30 pm. Election of officers was first on the agenda. Stephen Priester nominated Penny Miller for chairperson and Ben Filer seconded the motion. Approved. Ben Filer nominated Stephen Priester for co- chairperson and John Fritzsch seconded the motion. Approved. Alan Donaldson nominated John Fritzsch for secreatary and Ben Filer seconded the motion. Approved. Penny Miller — Chairperson Stephen Priester — Co- Chairperson John Fritzsch — Secreatary The minutes of December 1, 2011 were put before the Board. Ben Filer made the motion to accept the minutes. Peg Marquardt seconded the motion. Minutes were approved. DEPARTMENTAL REPORT: 1. Circle Trail section on Holliday Creek nearly complete with safety railing remaining. Completion could be in a few weeks. 2. Circle Trail sections on Barnett Road and Seymour Highway continuing to be constructed. Learned that approval was given by TXDOT to include a parking lot and access road to service the Seymour Highway Circle Trail section at the trail terminus in the Wichita Bluff Open Space. Four engineering firms have been invited to interview for engineering work on the section of the Circle Trail between the Open Space and Lucy Park. 3. Communication continuing with BNSF Railroad for City access to their property between Seymour Highway and Barnett Road for a critical Circle Trail section. 4. New hilltop gazebo and restroom installed at the South Weeks Park Pond. 5. Flood control project continuing in Lucy Park with mulch being transported and distributed around trees. 6. Planning continuing for the 4B District five park improvements. 7. Winter park tasks continuing. 8. New dance instructor and tumbling instructor hired for the Recreation Department. Needing an instructor to teach the Zumba Classes. Travis Pence explained how well the amateur athletics is doing and talked about the increase in tournaments. 9. Winter maintenance tasks continuing on Sports Complex fields and buildings. 10. Heard update this week from fd2s consultant from Austin on way finding signage contract. Part of the project includes park and trail signs. OLD BUSINESS: Park Improvement Committee has seen no action at this time.
