Wichita Falls Park Board Meeting
August 25, 2011

CALL TO ORDER:
Penny Miller called the meeting to order at 1:35 pm. The minutes of March 24,
2011 meeting were put before the Board. Sharon Roach made the motion to
accept the minutes. Stephen Priester seconded the motion. Minutes were
approved.
DEPARTMENTAL REPORT:
1. The Holiday Creek Trail project is coming to a conclusion. The paving is
done, but there are other areas that need work. Ten benches will be put
along the trail. Project should be completed in October and we will have a
dedication.
2. the City opened bids and will soon award a contract to the low bidder for
the sections of the Circle Trail on Seymour Highway and Barnett Road.
3. The 4B bond fund account has about $1.35m left over from the Holliday
Creek trail project Staff has been discussing options for expenditure of
this balance. The likely recommendation will be to continue with the trail
right of way acquisition from Lucy Park through the 80 acre Wichita Bluff
Open Space site.
4. The annual budget should be approved September 20 at status quo level.
5. Lake Wichita Park 4B shoreline project is coming along. The contractor
may start next week the access to bank fishing phase. Signs blanks are
finished and Parks has begun constructing the four metal sign frames.
Meeting on Monday with City engineer to complete design on the floating
pier and wildlife observation platform phases.
6. Fall Softball, Kickball, Flag Football and Volleyball fall leagues are getting
started.
7. A lady called about having a fund raiser event for Cancer Society at the
new Off Leash Dog Facility in Lake Wichita Park.
8. The 6"' Annual Bluegrass Festival at the MPEC was a success.
9. We are at Stage 1 of drought restrictions. Drip irrigation for the trees is the
primary method of irrigation. We have lost some trees, but about 90% are
looking good.

OLD BUSINESS:
1. Park Board Improvement Committee will schedule to meet sometime early
September to discuss other possible uses of the Maplewood/Arthur Storm
Water Retention Pond.
