CALL TO ORDER:

The minutes of September 22, 2011 meeting were put before the Board. Ben Filer
made the motion to accept the minutes. Mike Rucker seconded the motion.
Minutes were approved.
DEPARTMENTAL REPORT:
1. The circle trail development continues. The fencing is being installed in
the section along Holiday Creek, which is almost done. The trail is not
completed yet, there are still some items that need to be done. We were
told it would be completed sometime in November or December. This will
bring together two 6 mile trails into one continuing trail from Lucy Park to
Lake Wichita Park.
2. The Seymour Highway and Barnett Road trail contract was awarded to Luz
Lerma Construction. This is a 3% mile trail. The construction will be
sometime late next year.
3. Jack Murphy made a presentation to the council about three weeks and
they are in favor of sending the remaining money from the 413bond left over
from Holiday Creek to be used for the trail between Lucy Park and the
Wichita Bluff Open Space. It will possibly be used to design trail within
Wichita Bluff Open Space. City Council is pleased with the progress made
with the trail and gave an estimate of about 4 or 5 million dollars to finish
the trails. (This is a wild guess.)
4. The Lake Wichita Project is pretty much wide open. Jack Murphy gave a
preliminary presentation to council on the Barnett section that would go
straight out to the Wichita Lake on a causeway for maybe % mile or more
then tie into the shoreline. From There it would go to the Wild Bird rescue
and connect to Lake Wichita Park.
5. Falls Fest was a success again this year.
6. Drought -tree damage is continuing to be revealed. It will be next year
before we have a better idea of how the trees will be affected by the
drought.
7. The winter flowers have been planted for this year.
8. Fall softball, volleyball, flag - football and fall kickball are continuing to do
well.
9. 50 + Zone activities are going well.
10. We have ordered the gazebo for South Weeks Park Pond and we are
continuing working on the restroom for that site too.
11.4B nature signs are finished, but they have not been installed yet. We have
finished the bank fishing access project. We are almost finished with the
design of the other two parts, which are the elevated Wildlife Platform and
the Floating Pier. These should be done within the next couple of months.
12. The Halloween in Lucy Park which was held this last Saturday, October 22
went well.
