CALL TO ORDER:
Penny Miller called the meeting to order and introduced Nancy Howell, as the
newest member of Park Board. Nancy Howell was sworn in.
The minutes of January 26th were put before the Board. A motion was made and
seconded to approve the minutes. They were approved.
DEPARTMENTAL REPORT:
1. Circle Trail projects.
• Holliday Creek section of the Circle Trail is almost finished. The
Park Board will be notified when the dedication is scheduled.
• Seymour Highway and Barnett Road sections. A parking lot in the
Wichita Bluff Open Space will be added to this project
2. Landscape maintenance.
• Tree mulch is being distributed from the pile in Lucy Park, which is
from the tree removal flood control project. Our Parks Department is
now mowing the winter grasses.
• Parks staff is anticipating continued summer water restrictions.
3. 413 Lake Wichita Shore Improvements.
• The City will be bidding the floating pier and observation platform
soon.
4. 4B South Weeks Park Pond.
• The shelter has been installed on the hill and the restrooms are
complete and operational.
• Staff is analyzing the best usage of remaining 4B funds approved for
paving.
5. 4B District V Park Improvement.
• Approached land owners for lots adjacent to City View Park and
Lions Park.
• Public Works will work on the pond and two creek crossings in the
next several months.
• Parks is installing a new shelter in City View Park.
6. A citizen approached Jack Murphy inquiring about a park or place to put in
an archery practice facility.
7. Community Garden initiative.
• This is in response to finding out how to use some of the vacant lots
that are on the east side mostly acquired after the 2007 flood. One
Idea was a community garden. A group of volunteers from several
agencies will conduct a needs survey to help determine the level of
public demand.
8. Continuing team signups for softball, kickball, and volleyball leagues in the
Recreation Department office.
9. The first tournament rental is scheduled for this weekend at the Softball
Complex.
10. There will be a pool tournament and a Wii Bowling tournament on Monday
at the 50 + Zone.
11. Four Recreation staff members will be attending the TRAPS annual
conference in The Woodlands next week.

OTHER ITEMS:
Ben Filer wanted to say thanks to Terry Points and the Parks Department
for a great job cleaning the trail for the marathon.
There was a discussion on the Skate Park and other on going projects.
Penny Miller ask Jack Murphy to check to see if and when a Spring Clean
up will start.
