Arts Commission Minutes - 05/15/2008Wichita Falls Arts Commission May 15, 2008 W. F. Recreation Center Room 203 10:00 a.m. Presiding: Elizabeth Yeager /Chairperson Members Present: Elizabeth Yeager, John Hirschi, John Vitek, Jim Hughes, Lynn Marshall, JoAnn Crites, Catherine Prose, Linda Wilson, Ron Fischli, Marsha Dillion and Wray Williams. Members Absent: Staff Present: City Council Representative: Call To Order: Jesse West, John Christoff, Dr. Larry Sharp, Ken Van Loh, Harley Mills and Eleni Moshtaghi. Jack Murphy & Genice Wilson Dorothy Roberts Burns (Absent) Elizabeth Yeager Chairperson called the meeting of the Wichita Falls Arts Commission to order at 10:05 a.m. in room 203 of the W. F. Recreation Center. New Business: Presentations were made by representatives of not - profit organizations requesting funding from the 2008 -2009 FY budget. The organizations are as listed below: 1. Kemp Center 2. Museum of N. TX History 3. W.F. Ballet Theater 4. Symphony Orchestra 5. 4 Kidz Sake 6. Backdoor Theater 7. Community Messiah 8. Heritage Society 9. MSU Museum of Art 10. MSU Art Gallery 11. MSU Choirs 12. Railroad Museum 13. Symphony League 14. Youth Symphony CITY CLERK'S OFFICE Date By C--%. Time The Commission discussed whether to keep the Community Messiah on the list or remove it. Commission members expressed concern that the organization has been unable to raise funds from other sources. Motion was made to remove Community Messiah from the list and seconded. The motion was approved. A discussion followed about combining MSU Art Gallery and MSU Choirs with a letter to MSU suggesting they distribute to each organization. MSU Museum of Art will be considered individually. Motion was made and seconded to approve. The Motion was approved. Voting followed with Commission members filling out individual voting forms. These ballots were than averaged by applicant to produce the following recommendations to the City Council for funding from the FY 2008 -2009 budget.
